Alterd's longstanding partnership with Space NK is built on a shared commitment to curated luxury and exceptional customer journeys. When tasked with designing and producing elements for the Fragrance Discovery Bar, our focus was on crafting a sophisticated, tactile, and highly intuitive retail experience.
This bespoke project was engineered to elevate the complex process of fragrance selection, making discovery as beautiful and effortless as the product itself.

Our Approach: Elevating Olfactory Discovery
Our design philosophy for the Fragrance Discovery Bar centred on translating the art of scent into a refined physical experience:
1. Focus on Tactile Engagement
We moved beyond simple product display to create an environment that encourages customers to physically interact with the fragrances, using custom-designed fixtures to guide their exploration.
2. Bespoke Material Innovation
Space NK's reputation demands premium quality. We meticulously sourced and utilised high-end materials that provide both visual luxury and the durability required for a permanent, high-touch consultation point.
3. Seamless Integration
The design had to harmonise with Space NK’s existing premium store aesthetic while clearly designating the area as a specialised 'Discovery Bar'—a dedicated sanctuary for scent exploration.

The Fragrance Discovery Bar features custom-manufactured elements that define the Space NK experience:
Custom Fragrance Tables & Fixtures
We designed, produced, and installed a series of bespoke tables and display units to anchor the area, moving away from conventional shelving to create dedicated brand showcases.
Premium Finishes: Utilising a sophisticated palette of materials—including fine timber veneers, polished metals, and durable solid surfaces—to reflect the quality of the curated fragrance brands.
Intuitive Layout: Each unit is designed to present the fragrances in a clear, narrative-driven manner, guiding the customer on a journey of scent families and notes.
BEspoke Sampling Systems
To enhance the testing experience, we developed unique, integrated mechanisms to present scent samples cleanly and elegantly.
Refined Detailing: Focused on precision manufacturing to ensure the displays are easy for staff to maintain and for customers to engage with, reflecting Space NK’s expertise.
