The opening of Manière De Voir at the iconic Battersea Power Station required a showroom environment that perfectly balanced luxury, precision, and authentic craftsmanship. This vision was successfully brought to life through a collaborative effort, with Alter/d spearheading the Technical Design Development, Production, and Installation of the bespoke fixtures.

Working alongside our trusted partners, EC1 Build (GC Works) and the design team at Sinfonia Group LLC (Architect), we transformed the design concept into a stunning, tactile reality that celebrates high-quality materials and meticulous attention to detail.

The Heart of the Showroom: Solid Oak and Real Walnut

The core aesthetic of the Manière De Voir space centres on the natural beauty and warmth of wood. Our workshop was a hub of activity, focused on bringing this element to life:

• Precision and Volume: We dedicated ourselves to the precision machine cutting and hand finishing of every detail in solid oak and real walnut veneer.

• Celebrating Woodgrain: A staggering 170,000mm of hand-machined, hand-stained solid oak was used throughout the store. To enhance the natural beauty of the woodgrain and ensure a timeless finish, each piece was carefully stained and lacquered. This process reflects our passion and authenticity for real craftsmanship.

• Authentic Detail: From the impressive display wall to the various plinth elements around the store, every wooden fixture speaks to a commitment to quality and enduring style..

A Blend of Material and Form

The final space is a beautiful blend of textures and materials, harmonising to create a sophisticated and engaging customer experience:

• Seamless Plinths: We crafted beautifully seamless Corian plinths, providing sleek, modern display surfaces that contrast elegantly with the wood.

• Luxurious Accents: Rich brass Metalwork was integrated throughout the design, adding a touch of luxury and refinement.

• Comfort and Style: Handmade soft furnishings completed the environment, introducing a tactile element of comfort into the premium retail space.

Alter/d’s Role: From Concept to Concrete Reality

Alter/d’s comprehensive expertise was pivotal in translating the architect's design into a high-quality, functional, and visually stunning retail environment. Our process involved:

• Technical Design Development: Collaborating closely with Sinfonia Group LLC to finalise the structural integrity and production feasibility of the intricate designs.

• Bespoke Production: Manufacturing all custom elements, with a keen focus on the complex, large-scale wood machining and finishing required.

• Seamless Installation: Ensuring the final installation within the Battersea Power Station structure was executed flawlessly, adhering to the highest standards of quality and finish.
